Substantial Authentic Design Objects
Three Design Areas:
Wood and steel design objects – substantial
Our wood comes from recycled industrial ceiling rafters – solid, tough and weathered. Sanding and treating each
piece with natural wax allows us to create wood components that have unique color and texture, are sturdy and lasting. The combination of aged solid wood and heavy steel with traditional handcrafting results in substantial objects. Pure, no
trends: Authentic.
We salvage steel created during Pittsburgh's legendary industrial age, including remnants of a steel bridge
that fell into the Monongahela river decades ago. We sandblasted the pieces and repurposed them for one-of-a-kind creations. Hand crafted, for generations: History.
Combinations with illuminated glass – pure
Heavy steel combined with radiant colors are the inspiration for our light objects crafted with blow torches
and forged or welded into new forms. Some installations feature laminated glass and color sheet technology, resulting in objects that provide a warm and soothing glow.
Innovative crafting, substantial materials.
One guiding principle: pure, authentic, substantial
